Stool Kit from Acer-Ferrous Toolworks

Paul Peters, of Acer-Ferrous, has developed a wooden screw and nut system that is designed for use as a shop stool.  The large 2″ thick by 8 1/2″ square nut is sized with room for four splayed legs to be attached through tapered holes. (Very much like a Windsor chair seat,or staked furniture.)  The threaded stem is 2 1/2″ diameter and threaded at two threads per inch.  The top end has a 2 1/2″ long by 1 1/2″ diameter tenon for mounting a seat on by boring a hole through and wedging from the top.  The stem is 15″ long overall with 12″ of threaded length, allowing for about 9″ of height adjustment.  Also included is a jam nut, which is spun against the base nut once the desired seat height is set.  It will keep the seat from turning while in use and also removes any play in the screw and nut.  All components are made of maple.

Price for the kit is $110.  They are available now in the store.
